Minimum Wage Hike: A Haiku News Brief

Seventy more cents!
But will it hurt employers?
Or spur consumers?

My take:

Bosses feel the pinch,
But strapped for cash will spend more.
And everyone wins.

  1. Minimum wage hike -- ooh
About as big as a haiku.

  2. If I were paid hourly, and got a $0.70 per hour increase, I'd earn $1,365 more each year. (No, my math's not wrong. I work 37.5 hour weeks.) In this economy, I'll be damn LUCKY if I get a $1,365 increase at the end of the year. So quit your complaining.

  3. I am certainly for people being paid an honest wage. I just don't know where it will end.

Can we just keep raising the minimum wage? What are the consequences of doing so? Overall does it have a positive or negative impact on the economy?

  4. I think whether it is positive or negative is in the eye of the beholder. For some small businesses, they say it's too much of a burden. For the worker, obviously, it's great!
